After drawing record-breaking crowds on the first leg of 'Mission From Gadd Europe' in April 2010, drumming icon Steve Gadd will be returning to key European markets in September 2010 for 'Mission From Gadd Europe - The Sequel' making ten stops in eight countries, beginning in Reading, England, including a special 'Meet & Greet' at the London Drum Show, and finishing in Lisbon, Portugal.
The first 'Mission From Gadd' US tour in 2005 marked Steve Gadd's return after a 20-year absence from the clinic scene and incorporated a completely new and revolutionary format. Subsequent tours in the US and Canada in 2005 and 2006 were the biggest events ever to be presented in their markets. 'Mission From Gadd Europe 2010' was originally scheduled to begin in Dublin, Ireland and visit eleven cities in eight countries, but due to the volcanic ash over Iceland in April of 2010, the first four dates had to be postponed. Instead, 'Mission From Gadd Europe 2010' began in the Netherlands and continued through Germany, Italy and Spain, visiting seven of the scheduled eleven cities, with record-breaking crowds at each city.
One of the most recorded drummers of all time, Steve Gadd has been the driving force behind artists such as Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Steely Dan, Chick Corea and countless others. He has influenced generations of drummers and created some of the most memorable and emulated drum grooves in modern music.
In 2003, Steve was the recipient of Zildjian's American Drummers Achievement Award. In 2004, Steve was instrumental in designing Zildjian's K Custom Session line of cymbals. He also received an honorary Doctorate of Music from Berklee College of Music and was inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame in 2005.
Commented John DeChristopher, Zildjian's Vice President, Artist Relations & Event Marketing Worldwide, "The circumstances which lead to us having to postpone the first four dates of 'Mission From Gadd Europe' were beyond our control, but Steve was determined to make the best of the situation and we managed to do seven of the eleven scheduled European dates. Not surprisingly, the response was nothing short of phenomenal. And instead of making up the four postponed dates, we have another eleven city clinic tour scheduled, proving that even a volcano can't stop Steve Gadd and Zildjian! The format for the second leg will be similar to previous 'Mission From Gadd' tours; presenting Steve Gadd in an up-close and intimate setting, by providing the ultimate experience for his legions of fans and our European distribution partners. Once again we'll be utilizing social networking sites to allow fans to interact with Steve while we're on tour.
